SAFOSO supported a project led by the University of Florida to assess the resilience of state, national, and public veterinary services globally and to investigate the changes in networks of existing collaborations in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is increased attention on the benefits of collaboration across sectors for emergency preparedness in a One Health context.
To this aim, the team developed a tool that is a combination of a questionnaire and interviews of veterinary service personnel to develop a social network for veterinary services and to monitor changes in priorities and collaborations over time. SAFOSO contributed to different aspects of the questionnaire and the social network analysis.
The expected outcome of this research is a framework for monitoring collaboration, a brief portfolio of collaboration strategies along with proposals of further collaboration possibilities and areas of improvement.
