SAFOSO conducted a risk assessment for the registered product HICURE® which is a fertiliser for plants marketed by Syngenta.

In its production, protein components derived from animal by-products are used and the risk related to BSE and other hazards of animal origin was assessed. A qualitative risk assessment approach was used, including a safety assessment of technologies and manufacturing steps. The results confirmed that there is a negligible risk for prion presence in the final product. The results were used by the client to license the product in additional countries.
