SAFOSO conducted a risk assessment for a European medical company that is using animal materials in the manufacturing process of some of its medicinal products. In addition to many other risk management measures, the company also decided to source these animal materials only from selected farms to ensure a maximum control of animal health and thus safety and quality of the animal materials. The farms are operated under very strict husbandry requirements and the animal health situation is under close veterinary supervision. SAFOSO conducted an in-depth analysis of all relevant documents to verify the correct implementation of the husbandry requirements and veterinary supervision.

Our analysis demonstrated that a higher level of guarantees regarding animal health was achieved on these selected farms when compared to farms that are not managed under the same strict husbandry requirements.
