SAFOSO is working together with the Royal Veterinary College (UK) on the project “Potential use of farm of origin information for more targeted inspection of Cysticercus bovis”, funded by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA).

As the title suggests, we will be looking at farm characteristics such as type of production, water source, geographic location and biosecurity, and evaluate if they influence the likelihood of Cysticercus bovis infection. With this information, farms can then be categorized, hopefully allowing a more efficient, risk-based inspection.

The project will run from June 2014 to March 2015 (9 months in total). SAFOSO tasks will be mostly related with the literature review, liaison with the industry, and exploitation of the results.
